Grammar Lesson 8:

Connecting nouns and sentences

For connecting nouns, you can use "하고."

Examples:

1) 저는 사과하고 바나나 좋아해요. I like apples and bananas. 
2) 저는 프랑스하고 독일에 가봤어요. I've been to France and Germany. 

For connecting sentences, you can use "그리고" for and, "그래서" for so, and "그런데" for but. 
Unlike English grammar, we use these in the beginning of a sentence. 

Examples:

1) 제가 집 청소했어요. 그리고 화분에 물도 줬어요. I cleaned. And I also watered the plants. 
2) 제가 친구랑 싸웠어요. 그래서 기분이 안 좋았어요. I argued with my friend. So I wasn't in a good mood. 
3) 제가 친구를 봤어요. 그런데 친구가 저를 못 알아봤어요. I saw my friend. But he didn't recognize me. 

Now, you can shorten it to one sentence. 

1) 제가 집 청소했어요. 그리고 화분에 물도 줬어요. -> 제가 집 청소하고 화분에 물도 줬어요. 
2) 제가 친구랑 싸웠어요. 그래서 기분이 안 좋았어요. -> 제가 친구랑 싸워서 기분이 안 좋았어요. 
3) 제가 친구를 봤어요. 그런데 친구가 저를 못 알아봤어요. -> 제가 친구를 봤는데 친구가 저를 못 알아봤어요.
