Grammar Lesson 12:

Present Perfect

1. Present perfect for meaning experience 
Use 봤어요 or 본 적 있어요 after the verb. 

1) I have eaten Sushi before. 
저는 스시 먹어 봤어요
저는 스시 먹어 본 적 있어요

2) I have been to Paris. 
저는 파리에 가 봤어요
저는 파리에 가 본 적 있어요

3) I have met Josh before. 
저는 조쉬 만난 적 있어요
* Please note that only 적 있어요 is used for having met someone.

2. Present perfect for meaning continuous action from the past
Use 왔어요 after the verb

1) I have lived in Seoul for 20 years. 
저는 서울에서 20년동안 살아 왔어요
1.1) Advanced sentence: 제가 살아 온 세월이 눈 앞에 지나갔어요. The time (life) I have lived passed by in front of my eyes. 

2) I have been studying for 10 years. 
저는 10년동안 공부해 왔어요.
2.1) Advanced sentence: 제가 공부해 온 것들이 다 소용이 없었어요. What I have studied were no use at all.
