Greetings to all! by Tigress 12. May 2007 Chinese Hello! I just registered today. Very awesome site! I absolutely LOVE it! ^-^ Applause to the creator and staff members! ** 鼓掌(gu3 zhang3) ** I'm trying to improve my chinese reading. I speak the language but I feel that there's still a lot that I don't understand. My goal is: - to be able to sit through a movie without the english subtitle - understand chinese lyrics - understand the news on TV or radio - be able to read and understand newspaper and a chinese novel Cheers, Pat 1 Reply 1 new |

New face saying Hello! by Tim 1. Apr 2007 Chinese Hey! My name is Tim and I work for a Taiwanese company. I'm here because I want to start learning Mandarin Chinese so I can communicate with my Taiwanese co-workers. I've lived, and studied Japanese in Japan so I already know quite a few kanji (hanzi). Fun website, I'm thinking about registering. 3 Replies 3 new |

It teaches me the words, but not the correct way in the sentence by nolapsycho 22. Feb 2007 German ....and I know this because my active words, etc. are different in the example sentence due to grammar. I'm making real flashcards at home, and I may start writing sentences. I write how it sounds at the bottom, and the sentences on the site don't have sound. Maybe you can teach us about grammar, too, so I won't sound like an idiot when I attempt to say a sentence I made up with the only German I know (no grammar). 1 Reply 1 new |
correction by lechuzin 22. Feb 2007 German Ihnen is written with capital I. (formal you) 1 Reply 1 new |
I really like this site! by umichmed 20. Feb 2007 Chinese Hey Admin, I think you should keep the site more open for members while you build up this site. Once you get maybe 3000 words on here then start implementing membership charges. I think right now, you'll want to expand your userbase first. Best, Umichmed 4 Replies 4 new |
This site just rules by PodBoi 14. Feb 2007 Chinese I like it very much and I log in here almost everyday. I find it amusing. A lil bit of dialogue practice test would also be cool in the site. I also practice with a great book called "Beggingers chinese" does anyone in here know it? Let's comment about chinese courses's books and similar programs :) 1 Reply 1 new |
What's the best way? by PodBoi 7. Feb 2007 Chinese What's the best way to learn and memorize hanzi? thanks pals for this wonderful site :) 2 Replies 2 new |
Confusing by Sukata 3. Feb 2007 Chinese I learned that 'together' was 'he' not 'han'. Which one is correct? Maybe this isn't the language I learned...? =S 1 Reply 1 new |
great website by sate2 28. Jan 2007 German I like quick easy-to-use review. One question though; can you supply the gender/definite article with all the nouns? I want to make sure I learn all the genders at the same time I learn any new nouns. I'm told gender is very important. 3 Replies 3 new |
thats a great site. by tay 2. Feb 2007 German Thank you for your time and for opening it for public use. 1 Reply 1 new |
Membership by oliver 1. Feb 2007 Chinese I've changed the membership program.. after the trial you can still continue to use it but with sound restriction. However if you help promote this website you can ask for a free membership for a couple of months or forever depending how you promote the site. If you have StumbleUpon and give this website the "Thumb up" I'll give you 6 months free. You can also link to Chinese-Course.com to get the same. I'm also looking for a designer to make a banner ad for me. I'll give you 1 to 2 year for free for this depending how good the banner is. 2 Replies 2 new |
Great idea! by charlotte 31. Jan 2007 German Thanks for this site, which I found via Toytown. I've been living in Germany for about 18 months now so I know all the words that have come up so far. I agree with your other poster that it would be a huge help if you could put the definite article on the screen (I understand that you wouldn't want to re-record all the vocab). In German, even if you know all the grammar rules it doesn't help you one jot if you don't also know the gender of the word. I'm in the process of labelling all inanimate objects in my flat because I have to start again in this respect. |
Thanks by ediep1 15. Oct 2006 German I am currently enrolled in German 1 at my school, and I find that using htis site as a supplement to that course is very useful! Danke Sehr! Eric 5 Replies 5 new |

Simplified Chinese by bryce1 19. Nov 2006 Chinese This is an excellent tool for learning Chinese! I am learning Simplified Chinese but still find it useful. Do you think there will be a Simplified Chinese version coming out in the future? Keep up the good work!!~ 1 Reply 1 new |
Pinyin & Zhuyin by quartertone 12. Aug 2006 Chinese I get confused sometimes with the spellings of pinyin. Would it be possible to add an option to show the zhuyin pronunciation instead? Then it would become more of a "realistic" learning experience! :] 11 Replies 11 new |

Stroke Order by ediep1 14. Aug 2006 Chinese Hi, I've been trying to learn to write the characters, but there isn't a stroke order for me to follow... And that is fine for most word since it's not too hard to figure out some of the words. But I think it would be real useful if there is an option that teaches you how to write the character in addition to how to say it and what not... Thanks 4 Replies 4 new |
Block Function by oliver 1. Aug 2006 Chinese Recently I noticed that the block function can not only be used for characters you know very well but also for characters which confused you because you are learning another character which looks similar and hasn't settled in one's memory. Also there are some characters which I can't remember not matter how often I practise them, so its quite convenient to remove them for the moment. What do you think? 3 Replies 3 new |

removing a word by elektra369 16. Jul 2006 Chinese Before I start removing words, I was curious where they'd go. Will they go to a "known words" which I can review to bring back later, or will they just disappear to a place where I can't see them again? 4 Replies 4 new |

About the site by PodBoi 19. Jul 2006 Chinese When you click on "Chinese practice" you can see the Hanzis but cannot hear em, while you can hear the record on "Fast practice" (the con is that the Hanzi is not showed in a big format) If you can "repair" it please :) And about the Hanzi program for mobile phones, from http://www.getjar.com/products/3929/HanziQFirst100Simp ...did you like it people? I play with the dictionary 10 minutes a day :D see yas 2 Replies 2 new |
just a few other suggestions... by elektra369 18. Jul 2006 Chinese A few more things, which you can consider if you like. Maybe there could be a way to review all the "don't show again" words by themselves, in a really quick separate section. Just as a simple refresher... Could you write, next to the pinyin, the meaning of each of the characters. Like dian (electricity) nao (brain)? Is there any way of going through the entire list of available words and setting preference for when they'll appear? What about stroke order - maybe small numbers that are at the beginning of each line to let you know which line comes when (could be off to the side with the English and pinyin rather than on the large original character). By the way, I'm loving everything about the program, and have recommended it to others. Thanks so much for implementing the "don't show again" because it's made a huge difference already! Characters known at 100% by Radwen 10. Jul 2006 Chinese Would it be possible to have a list uniquely composed of the characters we can recognize at 100%? Maybe also a counter with our other basic stats in the home page (eg : Logins: 4 Last Login: 09.07.2006 Active Words: 53 Words Mastered : XX <--- Level: Beginner) It would be fun so we could have another scale on which we can gauge our progression. 1 Reply 1 new |
