Help with a word, see this more often by KelbeyW 20. Feb 2017
So a word like this one:
ขนาด
is kà nàat, but why is the second part a low tone? It starts with a low consonant, has a long vowel and ends with a dead consonant, so shouldn't it be a falling tone? And I thought low consonants can never have a low tone > http://www.thai-language.com/ref/tone-rules
Or are there exceptions to the rule? This isn't the first word with this. |

Read the referred article once again. You will find a link in it: http://www.thai-language.com/ref/cluster-tone

Low consonant long vowel closed by p,t,k- the tone is sure to be falling. |

The link does explain it. In this constant cluster the second syllable takes the tone of the first |
